Cricket
happens to be one of man’s inventions.
As man’s nature has changed over the years for the survival in the best way, cricket
especially world cup has constantly kept changing. Let’s have a look how world
cup have been modified in the last few years.
When the
world cup first commenced, players had to attempt hard to score a total of 200
and odd. In today’s game, even a 300 has been a lesser score to be targeted,
even in the most difficult pitches. In earlier world cups, every team used to
sport plain whites. Now each team has their unique attire, bathed in colours,
which keeps changing over the years. In earlier days, cricket pitches were not
used to be that enormous and eye-catching. Today, these are high, mighty and
magnificent. In earlier world cups, fielding standards were fixed for years.
But, these days all the teams improve the standards dramatically.
Moreover,
the original world cup format was 60 overs. It eventually got reworked to 50.
Shorter format have been more popular among the audience. The world cup has
been profitable to many industries affiliated with it like, Hotel Management.
Due to growing popularity of world cups, the ICC shifted its headquarters from
UK to UAE to be closer to the rest of the world. The number of teams competing in
the world cup has increased to 14.
Technology
has affected the transparency for judging world cups using helicopter shots and
spider cams. With the help of third refrees and snickometers game has
transformed itself to something modern and relatable. Getting technical, there
are only two powerplays now during both of which only 2 players are allowed outside the box.
Initially, no new ball allowed on the pitch. The rules changed and one new ball
was allowed. Now, the world cup sports 2 new ball changes. And finally, the
bats have changed drastically since the first world cup, becoming bigger and
thicker. Seeing the scenario, we can expect from the world cup to sport more
changes for the betterment of the circle of cricket.
